Coven of the As you may have already guessed, this page belongs to me, Raven. I will be posting some of my favorite herbal remedies as well as tips and hints that I have found to be useful. If you require more information on any of the listed recipes, please feel free to e-mail me personally at 1 Cup SEA SALT 1 Cup unsifted FLOUR 3/4 Teaspoon ESSENTIAL OIL Food Coloring, as desired 1/2 Cup VERY HOT (not boiling) WATER Mix all ingredients together to form a very stiff dough. Add food coloring to tint, if desired. You may add UP TO 1/3 cup additional water of needed. 2 Ounces LAVENDER BUDS 1 Ounce YARROW FLOWERS 1 Ounce PEPPERMINT LEAVES 1 Ounce THYME LEAVES Mix all ingredients together well, slightly crushing the flowers to release their fragrance. Place in muslin bath bags, using one per bath. This mix may be stored in an airtight container and used as needed. 16 Ounces DISTILLED WATER 2 Tablespoons LIQUID SOAP (like castile) 3 Teaspoons TEA TREE OIL Mix ingredients as follows in a spray bottle. Add the water and the Tea Tree Oil to the bottle first, then add the soap (this prevents the soap from making bubbles as you add the water). Shake well before each use. It works well for cleaning up countertops and most any hard, non-porus surface. If in doubt, test on an inconspicuous area first. 2 Cup LAVENDER FLOWERS 1/2 Cup ETHYL ALCOHOL ( I like Everclear, it can be found at most liquor stores) 1/2 to 1 Cup DISTILLED WATER 2 Teaspoons VEGETABLE GLYCERIN Grind the lavender flowers slightly with a mortar and pestle. Place in a 2 quart glass screw top jar. Add the Everclear and shake vigorously. Fill the remaining space with the distilled water. Leave in a sunny, warm place for a minimum of 7 days, shaking several times daily. As the color of the flowers fade and sink to the bottom of the jar, add more lavendar to strengthen the scent. When satisfied with the scent, strain thru very fine cheesecloth. Add the glycerine, shake well, and store the finished Lavendar Water in dark glass bottles. 1 Cup PURE ALOE VERA GEL 1/4 Cup RUBBING ALCOHOL 2 Teaspoons VEGETABLE GLYCERIN 1/2 Teaspoon TEA TREE OIL In a glass bowl, mix the aloe vera and alcohol very well. When it has been blended, add the glycerine and stir very well. Add the tea tree oil 1/4 teaspoon at a time and test the scent. I prefer the smell of tea tree versus alcohol, so I use the full 1/2 teaspoon, sometimes more. Store in a pump-squirt bottle and use as needed. 10 Drops Lemon essential oil 10 Drops Lime essential oil 1 Teaspoon Vegetable Glycerin 1/2 Cup 100 proof Vodka (or Everclear) Combine all ingredients in a bottle and shake well to blend. Lemon and lime peels may be added for looks. I like this in a spray bottle kept in the refrigerator, so when it's hot I have a nice refreshing spray to cool off with. 1/2 Cup Cornstarch 2 Tablespoons Arrowroot Powder 15 Drops of essential oil of choice Mix arrowroot powder and cornstarch together well. Add essential oils and blend until smooth. Sift 3 to 4 times until no lumps are present. Apply with a large powder puff. 15 Drops Sage essential oil 15 Drops Chamomile essential oil 1/2 Cup Apricot Kernal Oil 1/4 Cup Castor Oil 1/4 Cup Sweet Almond Oil Combine all ingredeints in a flip top bottle and shake to mix well. Warm slightly before use. 1/2 Cup Baking Soda 1/4 Cup Epsom Salt 5 Drops Red Food Coloring 10 Drops Yellow Food Coloring 15 Drops Orange essential oil 15 Drops Tangerine essential oil Combine all ingredients and mix well. Run thru a food processor until it is a very fine powder. Keep in a tightly covered wide mouth jar. Add 1/2 cup to bath water. 2 teaspoons Tea Tree Oil 2 Cups water Combine in a spray bottle and shake to mix. Spray on area to be cleaned and scrub, but do not rinse. Makes 2 Cups. 1 1/2 Tablespoons olive oil 2 Cups white vinegar or fresh lemon juice Mix in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Shake very well before use. Use a piece of flannel or other soft cloth to dab onto furniture and rub into the wood to clean. 1 1/2 teaspoons Lemon essential oil 6 Tablespoons (3 ounces) fresh lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil Mix in a wide mouth jar with a tight fitting lid, shaking very well before use. Apply with a soft piece of flannel or cotton and wipe the furniture well rubbing with the grain of the wood. 1 teaspoon washing soda 1/4 teaspoon dish detergent (do not use any that contain bleach) 4 Cups HOT tap water Add washing soda to a spray bottle and add the hot water. Shake until the washing soda is dissolved. Add the soap and give it a little shake to blend. Spray onto the surface and wipe off with a rag. 1/2 teaspoon liquid detergent (do not use any containing bleach) 3 Tablespoons white vinegar 2 Cups water Put all the ingredients into a spray bottle and shake to blend. The soap will break up any waxy build up on the windows. 1 Cup Baking soda 1/4 to 1/2 Cup dish liquid (again, one that does not contain bleach) 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin 1 1/2 teaspoons Tea tree Oil Mix baking soda with the tea tree oil and glycerin in a large bowl. Add enough liquid soap to make a thick frosting like paste. Store in a glass jar with a tight lid. The glycerin keeps the mixture from drying out and the tea tree oil provides mold and mildew prevention. Wipe this paste on the shower walls and tub with a sponge. Rinse with hot water. Because of the baking soda it will not leave a gritty residue in the tub. The smell of the tea tree oil will dissipate within a few hours.
